Christmas Family Time
Time With My Family
Reading the Christmas story from Luke 2:1–20 is a meaningful way to center your family on what Christmas is truly about. This short devotion is designed to help you slow down, read Scripture together, and reflect on God’s great gift. Feel free to use it in whatever way best fits your family and your time together.
SAY: “Today is Christmas. We are celebrating the moment God stepped into our world. God didn’t come loudly or forcefully. He came gently, humbly, and right on time.”
READ: Luke 2:1–7 aloud.
SAY: “God chose an unexpected way to come into the world. Jesus wasn’t born in a palace or laid in a golden crib. He was born in a stable and placed in a manger. God shows us that greatness doesn’t always look the way we expect.”
ASK: “Where was Jesus born? What was used as His bed?”
EXPLAIN: “God kept His promise, but He did it in a humble way. Jesus came close to ordinary people so no one would feel too far from Him.”
READ: Luke 2:8–14 aloud.
SAY: “The first people to hear the good news weren’t kings or priests. They were shepherds. God wanted everyone to know that this good news was for all people.”
ASK: “Who did the angels tell first about Jesus’ birth?”
EXPLAIN: “God often chooses unlikely people to carry His message. The angels announced peace because Jesus came to bring peace between God and people.”
READ: Luke 2:15–20 aloud.
SAY: “When the shepherds heard the news, they went to see Jesus for themselves. Then they told everyone what they had seen and heard. Meeting Jesus changed them.”
ASK: “What did the shepherds do after they saw Jesus?”
EXPLAIN: “When we truly meet Jesus, we don’t keep it to ourselves. Worship leads to joy, and joy leads us to share.”
